The IEMs themselves feel pretty solid even when made out of plastic (and a nice looking metal plate which may sometimes stand out). The cables out of the box frequently falls out of the ear and first time users will definitely need the ear hooks if you don't have glasses on. For me, I wear glasses and I tuck the wire behind the legs of my glasses and it keeps the wires in place. I heard the wire will "memorize" its shape after a few days of wearing though.. We will see then.The wire splitters at the middle and the encasement for the right angle, non-gold-plated jack (which is kinda disappointing at this price) are made of a rubber material which is nice to the touch and moderately soft. I believe it'll relief strains on the wire quite well.The wire splitter at the middle of the length of the cable is smaller than what I expected. I looked at many photos online and it just seemed really big (like those bulky ones one the Shure IEMs), but nope! It's kinda small and light, and won't weigh down the cable.The IEMs I received are authentic and was fully sealed when it arrived. I'm not sure why some people here are claiming them to be fakes. There is a authentication sticker that came on the right side of the box which proofs the authenticity of the IEMs. Another way to tell is from the storage box included with the IEMs. It's molded really well, the matte plastic finishing is even throughout, and has excellent construction. The fakes are the complete opposite. Also, the compartment can be pulled out smoothly without making loud noise, unlike those on the fakes. (I uploaded some pictures of the packaging and the storage box)Update (8 Oct):The IE80 sounds much better than before. Bass feels much more detailed and refined, soundstage has also gotten wider. I feel that there isn't much change in the mids and highs... Playing some Flac files on my shitty phone (Asus PadFone S), I could hear more details than I could with my $70 Sony EX650AP. Thinking to get a DAC soon to utilize the IE80 to its full potential.The problem with the tips supplied with the IE80 is that they're all shet and doesn't seal well, even with the medium silicone attached to it out of the box (even though I said it fits well before this update). The seal of the M silicone breaks when I just smile. Yeah, just the act of smiling breaks the seal, no matter how inwards I insert it. I am now using the medium Sony Hybrids. It works fine, is comfortable and seals well.Now the wires very rarely fall out, a big improvement from before. I dont use the ear hooks bcs they are troublesome and doesn't feel as comfortable.

I've yet to try the bass adjustment since I feel that they are already a bit bass heavy, which seem to be the major online complaint about these. I typically listen to a mixture of classic rock and classical music
, so heavy bass is not as important for me as it would be to someone into rap, dance music, etc. However, having said that I do not think that the bass overwhelms the vocals or the mid-range. The reason I didn't give it 5-stars was the bass issue and the quality of the cables, which honestly I think should be better for a $200 pair of in-ear headphones. I listen to these using a Fiio X3 and Mont Blanc (Fiio) headphone amp. While they do come with a variety of earbuds, I would recommend spending the $16 and getting a set of Comply tips - they are fantastic and improve the quality of the sound and comfort.

I have like 4 pairs and I put one in my car, one in my house, one at the office, and one at parent's house. This is so that I don't have to carry my earbuds everywhere I go. The problem is, after using the IE80 earbuds, my Sony earbuds now doesn't sound as nice (compared to the IE80), and the difference in sound quality is really noticeable. This in a way affects my enjoyment of my music a bit when using my Sony earbuds. The problem is, I don't think I want to spend and buy 3 additional pairs of IE80s to put it everywhere like I did before. But this problem is probably unique just to me. If you just have one earbuds and you carry it with you everywhere, then no problem. Just bear in mind that this earbuds may make your other earbuds sound not as nice (when compared to the IE80).All in all, the IE80 it is worth buying, in my opinion.
