c. The bottom and edge sides are also padded except for the edges of the front compartment.Back compartmentThe compartment against the stiff back of the pack is for a laptop and tablet. It's double-zippered all the way down to the bottom of the pack so it can lie flat while the rest of the pack stands up. The compartment is only the thickness of the zipper at the edges.The sleeve for a laptop is against the back, open at the top with a velcro strap to keep the laptop from sliding out. The front inner lining of the sleeve is velveteen over some foam padding. The inside measurements of the sleeve are 11" top to bottom by 12-1/2" wide towards the bottom, tapering in to 11-1/4" wide towards the top. It's ample for a 15" laptop. (I got a 17" MacBook Pro into it, but it was pretty snug, maybe more than you'd want.)Opposite the laptop sleeve on the other wall of the compartment is the tablet sleeve, also open at the top with a velcro strap, velveteen on one side and some padding. It's a bit over 10" in height by 10-1/2" wide.Middle compartmentThis compartment is double-zippered to half-way down. It's 2" front-to-back at the edges.The back wall of the compartment has a large pocket zippered at the top, with two layers of smaller pockets sewn onto its front. The inside of the large pocket is 7-1/2 inches in height by 12" wide at the bottom, tapering in to 11" wide at the top. The zipper only opens to 9-1/2".Sewn onto the front of that pocket are two smaller pockets side by side, each half the width of the larger one, opening at the top 1-1/2" below the large pocket's zipper, so they're 6" in height.Sewn on top of those pockets is a row of two pockets 4" wide and three 1" wide, all down another 1-1/4", so about 4-3/4" in height. The skinny ones look like they may be for pens or something of that sort. The wider ones would be good for cell phones. That row of pockets is lined on one side, the inside of the outer side, with velveteen, all except for one of the skinny pockets.Front compartmentThis compartment has no zipper. It's open at the top and has a flap that comes down over the opening. The edges of the compartment are 4-1/2 front to back. The flap is curiously only 10-1/2" wide, so it only covers the opening completely if the edges of the compartment are folded in at the top, and even then you might get a little water through if it's raining. There are quick-release straps to keep the flap down.No pockets inside this compartment.Outside pocketsThis pack has the best water bottle pockets I've seen. That's no doubt because they aren't only for bottles, but they work great for that.On the right (if you're wearing the pack), there are two pockets, one sewn onto the outside of the other. The inner one is big enough to hold a container with a 4" diameter, bigger than any water bottle I've seen. It's about 8" high in the middle--the open top is cut on a slant. Outside that is a pocket big enough to hold a 3-1/2" diameter container, also big for a water bottle. It's about 7-1/2" high in the middle, with a zippered top. There's a little padding on the outside pocket that will help with insulation. You can only put a bottle in one pocket at a time, with some room left for something smaller in the other.On the left is a pocket like the outer one on the right.On the flap that goes over the front compartment there's a zippered velveteen-lined pocket suitable for a cell phone. It's shaped like the lower part of the flap, so 10" wide and 5" high in the middle, 3" high at the sides. The zipper opens 5-1/2".Below the flap on the lower half of the front of the pack there's a double-zippered pocket. It's a bit over 9-1/2" high, rounded at the top, 9-1/4" wide, with a little under 2" of side fabric at the bottom that tapers to 1" at the too. The zippered lid is gusseted which allows extra space with the pocket partly open. There's mesh divider with elastic at the top over the lower two thirds of the pocket. Under Armour says this pocket is for shoes and dirty clothes.Other pointsThe pack is very nicely designed on the whole (I only wish the front compartment lid covered more) and well put together. It appears very sturdy.The fabric is all polyester.A padded pack with lots of pockets weighs a bit more than an unpadded one, but even so this one is fairly light, 2 pounds 7 ounces.The fabric-covered foam frame is stiff but retains some flexibility. It's molded to let some air in between it and your back. Comfortable.The padded shoulder straps are just over 2-1/2 inches wide at the top of the shoulders.The chest strap moves up and down 4". It's an adjustable quick-release strap with an elastic portion that expands up to 1-1/2" before the non-elastic backup alongside it stops it--no chance of breakage. It slides up and down easily, so it may slide some while you're using it.The top carrying handle is nicely padded.There are a couple Molle web straps (for accessories that attach to such webbing) across the front of the lower outside middle pocket.The Under Armour branding labels are discreet, the way I prefer them.Nonwashable, can be spot cleaned with damp cloth, no tumble dry, no iron.60-day free returns for exchange or Under Armour gift card for value of pack.
