I've read all the sites and tried the products (sprays, foams, sprays that foam, etc.) but invariably, I end up on the floor, staring at my sweaty, defeat
ed self in a streaked mirror.The unit is solidly built and its distinctive yellow color makes it hard to miss in a garage full of crap like most of us have. There's only minor assembly of the blade piece and you're ready to go, although it wouldn't hurt to plug it in overnight to top off the battery.There are though very important steps to follow to get the best results. You'll see listed separately an equally-expensive spray bottle with a soft, padded blade by Karcher--get it. You could make do with a microfiber cloth and spray of choice, but it makes prep work of the surface a breeze. Be liberal with the spray and be prepared to use the WV50 right after the glass is cleaned. Work horizontally and slowly across the glass, ensuring that your speed is appropriate to get the most suction and that you're making straight passes.Between passes, it is VERY important to wipe down the blade. Solution from the last pass will remain on the blade otherwise and will promote streaking. If you take your time, you shouldn't need to use a clean, dry microfiber to touch up very much beyond the very lateral edges of the surface.We have all-glass shower doors that are very contemporary but a pain in the ass to clean...and they need it after every use, naturally. The WV50 is ideal for such a task, with the added advantage of not needing the initial preparation step if you've steamed them up enough with your shower. In just minutes we can get the job done and not have to feel the dread later in the day when we aren't in the mood to do any cleaning.Any glass surface is fair game for the WV50, including windows and mirrors. Just keep plenty of clean microfiber towels for blade maintenance.One thing: when I first read about this device, I noticed the opaque tank on the front of the machine and assumed it was a reservoir for cleaning fluid that could be sprayed as you go. It is actually the collector for the squeegeed fluid. It looks relatively benign but you MUST get into the habit of emptying it after each session or day of use. If it is allowed to sit for any length of time, it'll take you back to your high school locker room days. It's pretty surprising how rancid that odor can get.Another thing: while it is sturdy, acquaint yourself carefully on how to separate the top and bottom sections. There are several internal plastic tabs that help keep the ends aligned, but they are extremely easy to break off if you don't press in the black segments to separate the ends. Twisting will separate them--likely with one of those tabs in the process. If enough break off, the head will still attach but when the firm pressure necessary to apply against the glass is applied, the head will come off frequently and make the machine's use much more laborious and less effective.
