I gave him the silicone band with the watch. He never used it. He found the original Citizen band very comfortable and has had no discomfort with it. He likes the bit of yellow that shows on the band as it compliments the small yellow ring around the dial. The crystal on the face is sapphire so it is pretty much scratch-proof. It is also water proof down to 200 meters. In the opinion of my very picky and sophisticated boyfriend both the watch and band are perfect. For me, it was an excellent value considering how impressive the watch is. I am so happy I made this decision on my own. For those of you who want to give a gift, this is a perfect timepiece.
