I have very sensitive skin, and stress and allergens suddenly began turning my once creamy skin into a battlefield of hives, rashes, flaking, redness, itching, semi-burning. For YEARS, not a go away kind of thing, just degrees of the symp
toms. It got to where I couldn't sleep because itching was so bad, actually making me feel sick.
I tried many moisturizers, and stumbled over this one on Walmart site number of years ago. I immediately ordered it because I use Neosporin for cuts, and Neosporin lips. And zip ! After just a few days my itching was so much better, the rashes, hives not as constant, but not gone. My skin was getting more moisturized, and I faithfully applied this head to toe after every shower, and at bedtime and in-between when possible. Yes, I was a little obsessed with trying to force feed moisture healing into my itching skin. Thank goodness I then found this at Amazon, a favorite shopping zone. Great price, competitive and sometimes cheaper, especially with Amazon coupon specials.
Then a general doctor recommended Zyrtec antihistamines for the hives, etc. It's been miraculous, too bad it's not a permanent cure. And makes me sleepy.
But between Neosporin colloidal oatmeal skin protectant, a Neosporin Eczema Essentials product, and Zyrtec, I am feeling very improved, and have added a product -- Cetaphil Eczema Calming Body Moisturizer. Sometimes I use that instead of Neosporin after shower. But I use them both, and my skin is much improved, just not wholly better yet, think I need a Dermatologist and a lot less stress, which triggers Histamines.
Between Neosporin and Cetaphil the Neosporin leaves my skin a little sticky, a noticeable layer of moisturizer at first, but then it sinks in, sticky goes away, and moisture lasts longer than Cetaphil Eczema Calming. But Cetaphil is great if I'm going out right away, because it goes in fast and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth, until wears off and need to reapply. Thus I use them both, along with occasional Zyrtec. And I recommend them all. On a side note, have given both to my Mom for Christmas, and she prefers Neosporin, but does not dislike Cetaphil, just thinks Neosporin works better on her.
Oh, and I have tried several herbal creams, and while not bad, not worth the huge price difference. Neosporin is free of EDTA, PEG, and fragrance.
