The kettle is not stainless steel, and the kettle will form rust spots wherever water contacts the kettle.

My particular kettle, in addition to rust spots
inside of the kettle, also developed rust and a leak at the base of the gooseneck on the bottom where the gooseneck meets the kettle. It leaks EVERYWHERE, and when tilting the kettle it will leak profusely - which is a great feature considering that it is leaking near boiling hot water on you.

I submitted a warranty claim and it was denied despite the clear manufacturing default. I would recommend fully to save your money ($75 or $99) and spend it on a company that doesn't willfully deceive their customers.

原文： I have used a Chemex to make coffee for over 50 years. Last fall I got lazy and bought a Brazen Plus, which did not meet expectations (see my Amazon review) and so I returned to my roots and have been using the Chemex again for several weeks. I decided to purchase a variable temperature kettle to
make the pour over process easier, and saw this product (1.7L) and the smaller version (1L) on Amazon. I opted for the larger version which has several advantages. The larger capacity gives greater flexibility and can handle a 6, 8 or 10 cup Chemex. It has a water level gauge under the handle, so it is easy to fill to the correct amount if you do not need the full capacity. It has a plastic top which opens easily by pushing a button, and which avoids the rust problem associated with the removable metal top of the smaller kettle.

In terms of use, during the past couple of weeks, it has been flawless. Setting the target temperature is easy even for an old codger. The indicated temperature is, to borrow a phrase from Mona Lisa Vito, "dead on balls accurate" when measured with a Thermapen. Accurate pouring is amazingly easy because of the kettle's excellent balance and the gooseneck. For making coffee in a Chemex, there is simply no comparison to a standard electric kettle (I have used several over the years). It takes a bit of time to heat up, but no longer than the Brazen Plus. I fill it to the 1.25L mark for my 6 sup Chemex (capacity = 30 oz. of coffee) and it takes about 5:30 to reach 200 degrees. After each pour you just replace the kettle on the base and push the hold button and it maintains the set temperature.

Because I have only used the kettle for a couple of weeks, reliability remains an unknown. Other reviewers have commented on the plastic top breaking. If I have issues in the future I will amend this review, but so far the kettle is a winner in every department. If you make coffee using a pour over method, I highly recommend this product.

原文： I use this little guy multiple times a day for the last 7 months. Functionally it works brilliantly for pour over. I love that it will hold a temperature. I get a good reliable pour and once you get your method dialed in it's easy to reproduce consistent results.

Sadly, a few weeks after
I got it this discoloration started appearing on the bottom. I tried all the recommended methods of cleaning it with no luck.

The lid also gets rust around it as does the top edge of the kettle.

It's disappointing the craftsmanship is shoddy because otherwise this would be perfect.

5 stars for heating and pouring
0 stars for quality of materials

UPDATE: I contacted the company about a month after the one year warranty. At first they said I was out of luck, but I pushed to talk to a manager and they agreed to send me a replacement. I'm now meticulously drying it after each use. We will see how it holds up.
