I have use the older model SM-KHE48 (slicksteel version) for about 3 years and have loved it. The last update of this mu
g added a teflon coating so I didn't buy it. This new one does not have any coating - just the polished "slicksteel".
It's a little different design, where the lid does not come apart. It's one piece, only the rubber gasket seal on bottom and rubber stopper in the flip cap come out. The older version came apart which made it easy to clean. In spite of not being able to take apart this version, there doesn't seem to be areas that will be difficult to clean. This lid sits in the thermos, the older version screwed on top of it.
The one part I don't like in this and the previous versions is that there is an indentation on the very bottom inside that seems to attract stains along the edges after awhile. Would be better if the bottom were smooth.
Overall, it's wider and more stout than previous versions - it fits in the cup holder better on my vehicle. Keeps coffee hot all day, doesn't spill - lid has a pretty bullet proof lock. The lid opens all the way back (further that 180 degrees) so the stopper never hits you in the nose while drinking and you can still see while driving. Great mug - $20 better than the previous version? ...probably not, unless having your mug not rattle around in your cupholder is all that important to you. The older one's run around $30... so if this drops to maybe around $40 it would be a nice upgrade. Overall great mug though.

总的来说，这款杯子更宽敞更结实，更适合我车子上存放杯子的地方。保温性能也不错，可以使咖啡终日保持热度，也不会泄露出来，盖子上有一个漂亮的防弹锁。盖子可以一路打开（高于180度），这样的话喝水的时候瓶塞就不会打到你的鼻子，而且开车的时候也不会阻挡你的视线。很不错的杯子，20美元的杯子会比之前的款式好吗？...大概不会，除非你的杯子能安安稳稳地立在你的杯架上，这才是最重要的。旧款的杯子价格在30美元左右，所以如果这款杯子定价为40美元才算是一个好的档次。总的来说，杯子还是不错的。

The leaking may be due to the gasket not probably installed (you can just follow the instructions to fit it in properly). As for hot temperature retention, it is among the best for "travel mugs". If you really want the best temperature retention, then you should consider the thermos/insulated bottle types.
The pluses are: very good temperature retention for a travel mug (very good for hot and excellent for cold); lighter weight even with a lid with excellent drinking/locking mechanism (my plain Starbucks stainless steel 16 oz mug is heavier); large opening for filling and easy cleaning (no need to use a bottle brush); a well-designed lid with locking/drinking mechanism; slick-steel internal finish (very easy to clean and little or no odor retention from your previous beverage).

The stainless steel is high quality compared to other type cups I've used - don't fret over not cleaning in a dishwasher, you can still put the top in the dishwasher, the base doesn't need it - after a month of use, black coffee has not stained the inside at all -still perfectly shiny in there - and a simple wash with soap and water suffices.
