Original Review: For the price, this is a very solid speaker with excellent sound. I would compare this little Sony, both in size and sound quality, to my Bose SoundLink Mini, which sells for double the price. It is close, but I would say the Sony sounds better and cranks a little bit louder than the Bose. The bass response is really good. Personally, I would leave the Extra Bass button turned on all the time. The sound fills a big room nicely. Another cool feature is that the unit is water-resistant, which is important if you’re taking this little guy out and about. And, if you wanted to buy a couple of these units to create a stereo sound system, you can easily link and daisy chain more than one of these speakers. Overall, I’m impressed. And as far as I’m concerned, the only downside to this speaker is the “party lights” feature. The thin plastic bar that surrounds the speaker grille is a light bar that pulses and flashes to the music. Kind of fun, but I wish that was a feature that could be turned off. Kids might like the pulsing lights and it could be fun in certain settings, but I don’t think it’s for everyone. It’s not for me. I’m not always listening to dance music. It could be rap, it could be metal, and it could be talk radio. A simple “on/off” switch for the dancing lights would be good.
