It fits 3-4 large metal water bottles and lunches for hikes plus wallet, phone, hats, personal items, etc... Only problem-- Kipling did not finish the underside of the strap! There is a black, thin, cheesecloth-

  like "fabric" which quickly pills and is impossible to wipe clean of sunscreen, lotions, etc... It allows all odors to be absorbed so don't let your friends who wear perfume or use fragrance laundry products borrow your bag or it will smell like them forever. I thought this was better than the Kipling bags with all the velcro and drawstrings-- that it would keep our belongings safe due to all the zippers. But this is a deal breaker.
