Serum and gel is basically the same thing. I purchased both, and just received them. They both say 100% silicone on the packaging). The ingredients on the serum says Polysiloxanes (Silicone), and the ingredients on the gel say Polysiloxanes Silicone dioxide. I'm assuming that silicone dioxide is jus
t a longer name for silicone. The "differences" between the two products are for one, the weight. The serum has 0.2 FL oz (at $17), and the gel has 0.69 FL oz (at $33). Also the serum is thinner, and has a different container (see pictures). The serum has what they call "gentle massaging rollers", but the three little metal balls don't really roll, they are stationary, and you just click the end of the dispenser, and the serum pushes up around the balls, and you apply it to the scar. I like the gel better (which comes in a tube), because you can control the amount you squeeze out, and it's not as drippy/wet, so it absorbs/rubs in to the skin faster. See pictures for differences (the serum is on the index finger, and you can see how it's dripping, and the finger below has the gel, and is not dripping). If I re purchase, I will opt for only the gel, because you get more for your money, and the serum applicator is more inconvenient than convenient.
