原文： This was the top-rated household fan on The Sweethome, and I needed one, so I decided to try it out. I'd have to agree that it's a great fan.

First of all, it's quiet for the amount of air it moves. It's certainly quieter than my Dyson AM05, and moves more air.

The fan has "
;natural" wind" mode that varies the intensity of the wind in a pattern that is predetermined, but that seems random. My wife and I have taken to using this mode when we sleep; it's still cooling, but it doesn't seem to have quite the drying effect that we usually get from having constant wind on us all night.

We use this mode in conjunction with the timer function. You can set a timer on the fan in 30 minute increments, anywhere from 30 minutes to 7.5 hours. This is nice because it's not uncommon for the temperature to drop during the night, so what started out as a comfortable amount of wind eventually becomes too cold by the time morning comes around. The timer allows us to have the fan shut off during the night, before it becomes "too cold".

This fan also includes a remote control that allows access to all of the fan's features, and which stores conveniently on the back of the fan. We actually don't end up using the remote very often, but it's nice to have.

There some ways that this fan could be improved:
* The fan could remember the last amount of time that you set the timer for. As it is, since we usually have it run for seven hours a night in the summer, I still have to tap the timer button 14 times to set it. And it beeps every time you press the button. And I have to do this every night. There's basically no way anyone else in the room is not going to wake up when you're doing this. If pressing the timer button once would just bring up the amount of time you set it for last time, that would be preferable.
* It could be easier to hit the controls when the fan is oscillating. As it is, when the fan oscillates, so does the control panel. You know what's not easy when you're half asleep? Hitting a moving button 14 times. It's easier to just turn oscillation off, do what you need to do, and then turn oscillation back on.
* The remote could be more usable in the dark. It has an LCD display, but you really can't tell what you're pressing or what mode the fan is in without a light.

All in all though, this is a great fan. Try pairing the "natural wind" mode with a thunder/rain noise machine, and you're practically sleeping in a storm. Surprisingly relaxing.

原文： We purchased this fan 5 months ago and only used it in my sons bed room. After only 5 months the motor burned out. It was still under warranty but when I contact Seville they said I had to mail it back to them at my expense and they would send me a new fan. The cost to mail it back was almost as m
uch as buying a new fan. I would not recommend this fan or purchasing from this company.

原文： It was great when it was new. Took a while for the scent of fresh plastic to wear off. However, just six months later -- purchased May 2016, currently November 2016 -- it is breaking down. The oscillating mechanism makes a noticeably loud clicking sound. No clicking when stationary. It only cli
cks when moving. May not be noticeable in a noisy home environment, but is very noticeable in a quiet cube farm environment when the fan is just a couple feet away on the desk.

I like the product, but I will need to purchase a new one. I wish there was a make/model that was as quiet but would not break down and make loud clicking noises after just a few months.

Update: December 2016

The quality of the product has seriously deteriorated from earlier this year. The one I purchased in May 2016 worked for six months before wearing out and clicking. The replacement I purchased in late-November 2016 wore out and clicking in less than a week. I requested a return/replacement. I haven't even gotten to UPS to mail the defective one back when the NEW one turned out to be defective as well. After only a few days it, too, is clicking like crazy while oscillating.

I will not buy a Seville Classics brand again!

原文： When I first looked at the fan I knew something was weird, I could see the tips of the wires (covered in plastic) inside and they looked misplaced. I tried the fan and it worked for a few minutes but then it started making a rattling noise and then stopped working. Sure enough, the plastic tipped w
ires were knocking against the rotating fan mechanism. I unscrewed the casing (there are two small screws that are not visible from the outside so beware of those) and then used electrical tape to adhere the wires to the front wall of the fan in order to stay out of the way of the oscillation. Had to make sure they still let the fan oscillate. So far so good! See pics.

原文： I have barely used this fan (maybe 3 weeks of on and off use in the 11 months). Used toward the end of last summer for a few weeks, then itsat in the corner unused for the winter. I went to turn it on now that it is Spring, and fan doesn't spin.

原文： For a number of years I had purchased Vornado fans for supplementing our home AC as I always run hot and would prefer not to freeze my wife to death. The Vornados used to be exceptionally good, but the last 2 I had burned out very quickly and I finally had enough of spending good money on bad fans.
In frustration, I bought a no name standing oscillating fan at a big box store. It moved air well, but creaked and groaned almost from the day I got it. Still, I stuck with it because I couldn't return it and I figured as long as I'm getting cooled off who cares. Skip ahead a few months and it sounded like a Tonka truck being run against a cheese grater whenever I turned the thing on, and it finally quit on my a few weeks ago. This time, I did a little research and decided on the Seville fan. It is FAR quieter than my last fan, and it also feels like it moves much more air at a time. The remote control is a nice bonus, and so far I am very happy with the fan. It doesn't sting the wallet like a Vornado, but it works just as well.
