makes for a great screen. Bluray 1080p has the best picture of course, HD 720p looks pretty good too. Don't even try a SD picture on a screen this big. No projector in the world can make that look good. Movies are awesome to watch on it. I have also watched several football games and been quite pleased.
There is no "lag" or "shadowing" that I notice. The kids (and I) play video games on it too. the games look amazing on this! When we play MarioKart in four player mode we each have our own 55" screen to use! It's awesome! It is definitely a hub for guests. I never knew it could be so fun (and inexpensive) to have a theater in our house.

The bottom line is this: you cannot be unhappy with this projector. The picture is amazing, bright, and very fluid. There are no loud fans (the fan is barely audible) to bother you. It shows up strong in a well lit room and looks amazing in a dark room. It is ultra portable.
I research and research and then research some more when I'm making a large purchase like this. I obsess (as my wife would say) over all the details and specs before I make a purchase. I rely heavily on reviews like this. You don't need to obsess. Buy this one and be happy like me. :)
I've had mine up and running for over six months now and we all love it!
The first photo (football game) was before I painted the wall. The second photo is when the wall was half-painted. I include that so you can see what a difference the wall paint makes. I ordered the paint online from Home Depot for about $6. Just search theater screen paint.

10/28/15 -I have added a picture of the paint I purchased from Home Depot if anyone is interested. That little 8oz jar was enough to do my screen.

w is a requirement for me. I placed this on the floor in the same place as the GT700, and the picture was WAY bigger. I had to move it about a foot closer to fit the projection on my designated screen space (a silver-grey painted area of the wall.) It took quite a bit of effort actually to get the picture constrained between projector placement, the built-in zoom and edge cropping. I don't remember if the GT700 had built-in zoom, but it was nice that this one had at least a modicum of control in that respect. The keystone settings were more than adequate for straightening out the picture, with a lot more angle to spare (given the low projection angle.) It took a little time to get the whole picture in focus, again experimenting with placement. I think I need to do a little more adjusting still because while the center area is sharply in focus, the edges are a little blurry. It was much worse, but making adjustments to placement has helped a lot. (In my photo you can't see it because it's sitting on the floor in front of the coffee table.)

The picture is far and away... night and day difference. This has 25000:1 vs the GT700's 2500:1. 1080p vs 720p native. 2800 lumens vs 2500. The resulting experience is such an incredible improvement and I don't know what more can be said about it. This projector has built-in 3D capabilities, and the GT700 needed an add-on box. (I haven't tried it on either, yet.) Games, movies... this projector is outstanding. The GT700 had trouble with blue skies and smoke in movies - so far what I've seen with this one is marked improvement and I haven't noticed any posterization yet.

Sound: I've read that this has speakers. I use a receiver for handling sound though, so I can't speak to the quality yet. The fan is practically inaudible, which is a big improvement over the GT700.

Remote and etc: this one is more useful than the GT700 by FAR. It was a little shocking to get a face full of bright blue when you touch a button though; be careful where you point that thing. The connections for this projector are on the side instead of the back, which is really nice but that is just because it works for my setup better.

I got this projector for about $700, which in my opinion is a STEAL for a home theatre setup. I paid about the same amount for the GT700 four years ago. Not bad for about $14.59 a month as far as TVs go. This time I got the four-year coverage though so I'm hoping to get a lot more use out of this. (I don't care about 4K, for the foreseeable future. The new generation of gaming consoles can barely even do 1080p.)

Overall: I couldn't be happier. I'll update as things come up.

gotten around to buying drapes for my new apartment. If you have decent light blockage this is pretty much a TV replacement. I made a cutom screen using Carl's high contrast gray material over a wooden frame. I highly recommend using some kind of high contrastinv gray background. It makes pretty noticeable difference, colors pop sooo much better. Really brings the image to life.
