  nless container that fits the new hinged cap. but, we will eventually order a replacement cap for our older version. this is one of the best commuter containers for keeping coffee hot. a good day's worth of hot and in the afternoon, it is still warm/hot for a great pick me up. thermos makes a great product. for those that have the older stainless bottle with nissan/thermos on the label, this is the upgraded version of that older model. the flip cap is now black hiding those coffee stains and drops on the older white inner portion. a great improvement, but it still needs to be cleaned daily or the coffee stains will load up on the surfaces. a great product and fast delivery
  
  update: the ordering of the replacement cap is a nightmare, so be careful of opening and closing this lid/cap. it is the weak link in this great thermos bottle. the plastic hinge is the smallest hinge ever and it works. but, sometimes the lid gets sucked into the stainless bottle from cooling and it is hard to get the top off. it is very easy to pop open the lid and then unscrew the lid/top off. warning: after you pop off the lid and let the pressure ease, put it back on to unseal the stuck top. otherwise, the small hinge will take the brunt of force when unscrewing the lid from the bottle. therefore put the lid/cap back on and then unscrew the whole thing from the bottle.
  it still is the best thermos for keeping coffee hot during the day, but keep the lid in mind when getting ready to clean the whole thing... the thermos co. just does not answer their customer service phone and there is no other way to order just the lid/cap.

  1) You have to be very careful not to fill the thermos up too much. If any liquid is above the threads (where the lid screws into the thermos) it will LEAK and make a mess everywhere! As long as you don't

  fill it up too high then it is amazingly leak proof. I always take a paper towel and wipe down the rim of the thermos before putting the lid on to ensure that there's no liquid above the threads that could leak. This is a bit of a hassle, but keeps it from leaking. However, I wouldn't ever throw this loose into a bag - I only put it in an external water bottle pocket just in case I didn't get all the moisture and there is leaking.
  
  2) This thermos is excellent at keeping beverages hot, almost too effective. I've forgotten my thermos at home in the morning and come home after work and the tea is still warm. This is good if you want to keep a beverage warm throughout the day, but not so good if you want to drink from the thermos shortly afterwards. I use it for tea so I'm putting boiling water into it. If I want to be able to drink it by the time I get to work and not be scalded I add about an inch's worth of cold water at the end so that it's not too hot (because the tea won't t cool off anytime soon). If you aren't in a rush, you can leave the lid open for about 10 minutes and it will be cool enough to drink.
  
  I had an older version that I used for about 6 years and and it finally got to the point where the tea tasted a bit metallic (this could also be due to not cleaning it effectively enough). I'm pleased that in the new model they've changed the inside of the lid from white to black so that it doesn't show tea stains as much (these go away easily with cleaning). Overall a great product and one that I have with me constantly! If I ever lost it, I'd buy a new one again immediately.
