原文: This drive is nothing short of amazing - I bought it quite a few years ago, and it still works without single hitch - not that I use it too frequently, but still access it anywhere from once a month to few times in a single day. Craziest thing that happened to it recently was that I left it in
my shirt pocket before throwing it into washing machine... medium wash cycle in warm water, couple of rinses, full cycle in a dryer - and it still works as it did, all data is there!!! Capacity is sufficient for all of my life needs, and even it's a little bulky, that peace of mind feels good.
原文: I own both the Aegis and the Corsair Padlock2 secure thumb drives. Both are well built and do a terrific job of securing you data from prying eyes. The Padlock2 costs half as much as the Aegis and has a nice rubber shock absorbing texture which I feel would be helpful if you dropped it accidentally
say from about 20 feet :) All kidding aside, its a terrific drive and highly recommended. Where I feel that the Aegis may have a slight benefit is that after ten unsuccessful login attempts, it will wipe the data. So if you need that sort of functionality, go with the Aegis, otherwise save yourself some money and buy the Corsair Padlock 2.
Update: November 2014 The Corsair Padlock 2 has continued to exceed my expectations as far as performance. I use it on a weekly basis and it has never let me down. I am dropping my overall review by one star due to the numbers on the rubber keypad completely wearing off. Each button represents multiple numbers and you have to remember whether they start at the top or bottom of the keypad, otherwise you will get the passcode wrong. Fix this issue and I would gladly bump my rating back to five stars.
原文: So far this is working precisely as intended. I wish it was about 1/3rd smaller, as I carry it on my keychain in my pants pocket. The rubber body is also wide enough to interfere with some side-by-side USB ports. I wish it did not have a separate cap that I KNOW I will eventually lose. The numbe
r of combinations is more than adequate but I think it is silly that each number key has two numbers on it.
I wish it came with more complete printed instructions. Yes, there is a manual on-line but I dislike that trend of forcing me to look on-line for instructions that should come with it. The quick-start guide is enough to get you going but does not tell you about such features as how to lock it "on" if desired or to set a master password.
The speed is fine for my use. I am not transferring giant files. I use this to carry secure data such as a plain text backup of my 1Password passwords file. I like the indicator lights.
I wish I knew just how secure the device was. If I assume this "2nd generation" version resists the failures of the 1st model and that the encryption is exactly as-described then it is more than adequate for my uses. I am not trying to keep secrets from the State. I'm just trying to keep my secrets from you, lol.
I do not know how durable the key markings are. My use is much rarer than some people, accessing it only a couple of times a week. I also do not know how long the battery will last but that isn't a big deal since it is supposed to power off the USB port after the battery fails.
** One year update -- I carry this in my pants pocket every day, on my keychain, with some coins in the same pocket. I use it once a month or less. Maybe that is why I have not lost the cap yet, lol. It is an emergency item for me, a backup for my smartphone and an encrypted password manager app. After LESS than one year of use, most of the numbers and symbols on the button rubbed completely off this drive.
Even if I tilt it under strong lighting I can barely make out any of the characters. As long as I remember the first button is the 'key' shape and the rest go 1/2, 3/4 ... I can use it. Otherwise it will become totally worthless!
This is not acceptable. The markings should have been molded into the buttons or at least printed into recesses (that could then be easily seen if tilted in the light when the paint wore off. I am dropping my rating to one star because this is a critical part of its function.
