This is not a light trail running shoe. The construction is solid and I expect to wear this in wet/dewey conditions where rocks and roots are common. It is more like a low cut hiking boot in construction and feel. The sole is kind of stiff and has a very grippy tread. Unless the seams fail this shoe should last for many miles or years. I have not tested the water proofing, but that feature seems to be temporary on most trail shoes, that develop leaks at tight bends and stress points. I do expect the waterproof feature to last for the 1 year warranty. Even thought the shoes are snug I have not had any rubbing or blister issues, but I have not walked in them much. Actually I wanted to get this review out so others would be sure to order the larger size and not have to bother with sending them back. I will write more later if circumstances warrant. Definitely a well built shoe, just hope they last.
Update 6/4/2015: This shoe did very well in its first real workout, a waterfall approach in hill country. Excellent grip on mud and roots, and unusual grip on slippery rocks during a stream crossing. Surprising. The thick sole easily rode over sharp rocks and knobby roots with no discomfort. It really is a low-top hiking boot rather than a trail shoe. I did not notice any unusual sweating or damp feet issues, though the weather was in the 80's. The tight fit is relaxing some, but this shoe is much snugger than the size would indicate. Really wish I had ordered a size and a half larger! Having said that I wore the shoe without discomfort for several hours. In fact it became more comfortable the longer I wore it, so I suspect there is some breaking in going on. As long as you order a larger size that fits, and don't expect a light trail running shoe, you should be pleased with shoe's performance.
